Good bike rentals sell their best slots weeks ahead. Below: the 13 to book early, what each includes and how they differ.
Pick up a fitted bike near Fisherman’s Wharf, then follow maps and route advice along a mostly flat, car-free path past Fort Mason, the Palace of Fine Arts, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Ride to Sausalito or Tiburon, then return by ferry with your bike.
Pick up a KTM e-bike at E-Motion Nazaré and set your own pace along the Atlantic coast. Choose a mountain or urban model, use the routes loaded onto your phone, and ride north toward São Pedro de Moel or south to São Martinho do Porto. Bikes for children are also available.

Pick up a custom-fitted bike at 571 Post Street and spend the day exploring San Francisco on your own plan. Staff provide route advice, a helmet, lock, and local information. Ride to the Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito, the Presidio, Golden Gate Park, or the Embarcadero. Ferry return costs extra.

Ride about 25 kilometers from central Budapest to Szentendre on a KTM Life Conquest trekking bike. You get an offline Google Maps route, phone holder, pannier, helmet, lock, repair kit, and local tips. Explore Aquincum, Római Part, and Szentendre, then return by bike, train, or boat.

From Bike Volcano in Volcano Village, you’ll ride a hybrid e-bike into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on permitted bike trails and roads. The highways were busy and a bit scary at first but the vehicles were very accommodating to those on bikes as long as you stick to the sides of the road and adhered to the parks regulations there were no problems. The audio/map app was a bit hard to navigate, but trails and paths were easily found. Lots of maps on the way to follow. The views of the volcano spectacular. Beautiful, fun and exciting adventure. Would do it again. The e-bikes from Hilo on Bikes, were top notch and easy to operate. Fun fun activity.…”
